What qualifies as an airbnb experience?

Airbnb Experiences are face-to-face or online activities organized by inspiring local experts. They go beyond typical excursions or classes by immersing guests in the unique world of a host. Airbnb welcomes many different types of Experiences as long as they demonstrate experience, privileged access and connection. Popular 5-star experiences are usually interactive activities organized by locals, where guests can feel truly connected to a host and get to know their world better.

Activities where a Host simply provides transactional services do not meet our Experience standards and requirements. Airbnb Experiences are activities and extras that are designed and run by locals in the area. Experiences on Airbnb can range from cooking classes to guided tours. Hosts are often very knowledgeable about their local area, and by giving them the opportunity to share that knowledge, Airbnb has become an interesting place in the tourism industry.

With its motto “live like a local”, Airbnb Experiences offers specialized tours that allow travelers to enjoy their hobbies and interests, in a whole new way and in a whole new culture. Likewise, an event without a host, any type of service, and anything that guests can find on their own are also not Airbnb experiences. Best of all, tour guides and activity operators don't need to host homes on Airbnb to host an experience, and travelers don't need to stay in an Airbnb listing to participate in an Airbnb Experience. If an Experience does not meet these requirements, the listing or associated account may be restricted, suspended, or removed from Airbnb.

However, keep in mind that these activities are only available in certain cities, and as a host, you must have your experience approved by the Airbnb team before offering it at your rental property. Experiences that include lodging or lodging of any kind are not allowed outside of Airbnb Adventures. Hosts cannot mix guests from Airbnb and other platforms in the same instance of an Experience. While the rate may seem high, it allows Airbnb to offer help and tools for hosts to manage their experiences.

Not only can you promote the Airbnb Experience on its own, but you can also promote it to guests who rent your property. Experiences must meet all of the requirements outlined in the Airbnb Content Policy and Anti-Discrimination Policy. To become an experience host on Airbnb, you can't just offer the experience to those who are going to stay with you. Unlike typical tours and services, Airbnb Experiences are designed to be unique and interactive.
